The HID pivCLASS RK40 Reader is intended for use in various high security environments, and it can be used for a phased transition from older technology to newer technologies so cards can be replaced over time. This product is in compliance with FIPS 201/FICAM, and allows upgrades on-site without taking out the existing system. To be fully FICAM complaint, the product must be paired with the M2000 pivCLASS Authentication Module for single factor authentication. Adding a contact reader sidecar that supports CHUID + VIS makes the RK40 a two-factor reader, and with the addition of a biometric read sidecar, one can attain three-factor strong authentication.
