The R10 reader is the smallest iCLASS reader from HID and is well-suited for mullion mounted door installations, single gang J-box or any flat surface. It measures just 1.9" x 4.1" x 0.9" and weighs 3.9 oz. in pigtail wiring configuration and 2.9 oz. in terminal wiring configuration. The unit is housed in a Ul94 polycarbonate casing and is made from 11% recycled material. The R10 is compatible with 13.56 MHz cards as well as FIPS-201 type cards, PIV, CIV, CAC, TWIC and FRAQ. The pivCLASS R10 reader delivers controlled assurance when used with the compatible pivCLASS Authentication Module to perform various authentication modes such as CHUID+VIS authentication and CAK authentication. The pivCLASS signature check also enhances security by identifying altered, counterfeited, copied or cloned cards. The normal standby average current draw of the unit is 60mA, with a maximum average draw of 100mA and a peak draw of 200mA. It operates efficiently in temperature range of -30 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit, in both indoor and outdoor environments. It follows HID pivCLASS protocol as well as the CoreStreet Reader protocol. The pivCLASS R10 reader is a solution from HID that upgrades an existing physical access control system to FIPS 201 compliance. It is designed for maximum security and affordability. The R10 reader has FICAM, UL294 and FCC certifications. Up to two pivCLASS readers can be connected to a pivCLASS authentication module via 4-wire RS485 communication, thus helping facilities to use much of their existing wiring. The R10 reader can also be ordered with Prox support and is available in either pigtail or terminal strip wiring configuration for easy transition from legacy technology to new PKI enabled smart cards.
