The HID RKL55 is a highly featured LCD/Keypad Reader which takes user functionality and interaction to new levels, thanks to the use of advanced interface features such as an LCD screen and function keys. This allows this reader to not only obtain information from the user, but also to allow the user to interact with the system and obtain data from it.
The dual card reader and keypad data entry allows the RKL55 to offer a higher degree of security, which is taken to state-of-the-art levels thanks to the use of iCLASS advanced data transmission algorithms which protect the integrity of user data at all times.
The use of an LCD makes this reader ideal for applications outside the realms of possibility for most other readers, such as vending and point-of-sale applications. Upon request the RKL55 can support OSDP (Open Supervised Device Protocol), which put the RKL55 in a higher tier of user functionality using HADP.
The RKL55 reader allows for great configurability, allowing for host devices to control the LCD screen and also to obtain information from the reader such as user interaction with the keypad and function keys, requesting buffered card data, and advanced control of audio/visual indicators.
Different RKL55 models exist to support different interfacing options, including Wiegand, Clock-and-Data, and serial interfaces.
The RKL55 is used exclusively for indoor applications, and it can be assembled easily through its mounting plate to standard back boxes, or to any flat surface. This reader requires a 9-12 VCD power supply, and the manufacturer recommends the use of linear power supplies. The RKL55 reader has a one-year manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
