HID iCLASS cards feature 13.56 MHz read/write contactless smart card technology and be used in applications ranging from physical access control to cashless vending. These iCLASS credentials are available by themselves or can be combined with other technologies like HID Prox (125 kHz); additionally, these iCLASS credentials are available in card (credit card sized or clamshell), key fob and tag form factors.
The 200X iCLASS card is the most common form factor and is similar in size and thickness to a credit card which allows them to be carried in a wallet. They can also be printed on and used with a strap and/or clip, to double as a photo ID badge. They are made of durable, strong, PVC and other composite materials making them flexible yet resistant to breakage and cracking. There is also the option of adding a magnetic stripe or barcode, as well as anti-counterfeiting features like custom artwork.
Security is also a strong point with these iCLASS credentials. The risk of compromised data and duplicated cards is reduced by the use of industry-standard encryption techniques. Additionally, application areas are secured through 64-bit diversified read/write keys.
