HID's iCLASS SE R40 reader enhances security and opens a pathway to emerging technologies by incorporating the latest security access standards and support for the use of mobile devices such as smart phones. SE R40 readers adhere to the new Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) standard, and coupled with Secure Channel Protocol (SCP) to provide highly secure communications and management at your centralized location. In addition, the SE R40 inhibits credential cloning using SIO to bind objects to specific credentials. Using EAL5+ certified secure element hardware, the SE R40 guards against key and credential tampering. To be ready for emerging technologies, the SE R40 uses NFC card emulation to facilitate migration to mobile devices, and SIO portability for other smart card technologies. The SE R40 supports a wide variety of 13.56MHz cards, including SIO on iCLASS SE, SE for MIFARE DESFire EV1, SE for MIFARE Classic, standard iCLASS Access Control Application, and others. Typical read range runs between 1.4" (3.6 cm) and 3.5" (8.9 cm) depending on the type of credential. The SE R40 comes in black or gray, measures 3.3" x 4.8" x 1.0" (8.4 cm x 12.2 cm x 2.4 cm), is suitable for indoor/outdoor use, mounts in a standard single-gang switch box (Americas), and ships with a mounting plate for use in Europe and Asia. The SE R40 reader is an excellent choice for new or replacement installations in which the latest in enhanced security and flexibility to handle emerging technologies is critical.
